Does the AU airbox and piping bolt straight into an EBII?

How does it compare to the EL setup?

hi

yes it will fit into the engine bay but its only suited to the bbm
the au airbox is the same as the el airbox.
and the only difference in the piping is the el has a rubber piece that runs from the throttle body that joins the plastic piping before the flex hose and the au is a one piece plastic pipe that runs to the flex hose..

here is a pic of the au intake pipe.
except i cut the restrictive part near the throttle body and added a 2nd flex hose that joins a pipe with a pod

Thanks Troyman.

Where your tubing connects to your bbm looks unmodified? It looks
better to me than the EL tube, but i should pick what will fit my mixer.

Okay, so the airbox's are the same, and bolt straight into an EB? In that
case i would be better to get an AU box because it's newer, or if i can
do an inspection go for the best looking one.

There are so many different intake types!

I am also looking at Nigel's. I wonder if he is using an AU XR6 VCT inlet
system? He has a mixer, and i will too. Refer photo below.

If the AU and BA tubes were used with a mixer, the bolts holding them to
the bbm would no longer line up.

With the EL setup you might be able to just flip the rubber corner piece,
or adapt it in some way, and still bolt the plastic tube to the bbm.

Bump. I'd like to sort this out asap, if possible.

Question is, what cross-over piping to use?

Situation is:
car EBII
engine AU
upper inlet manifold EL
LPG mixer
airbox AU/EL

I'm keen for airflow and existing fixtures as much as possible, but willing to adapt

ahh
i see what you mean..
the lpg mixer will cause the au piping sit further away from the throttle body?..

in nigels pic he is using the ef air intake on his vct engine

ill let someone who has a au or el with lpg answer that one?

It looks like even Nigels EF piping might need adaptation to be affixed
properly.

The pipe over the rocker cover looks like it connects to the rocker cover,
and these connections would be out of place because of the mixer.

The other pipe would be fine because the flexible section would
compensate for the mixer. The question there is whether the EL upper
inlet manifold brackets are compatible?

The flow looks good, but it is rather big and boofy, reducing access to
some areas.

It seems pros and cons for each. So which?

Remember that an EF BBM does not have the mounting bosses on the top for the inlet ducting like the EL and AU BBMs.

Okay. That makes me glad i have an EL BBM, which gives me more options.

I'll see if i can do a summary of my thoughts so far:

EF
need to modify mountings to rocker cover to accomodate mixer
long tubing with good flow
big and boofy reducing access

EL
need to extend tubing to accomodate mixer, then can use std mountings to top of BBM
medium length tubing with okay flow
compact

AU
need to modify top mountings to manifold to accomodate mixer
medium length tubing with okay flow
compact

BA
need to modify top mountings to manifold to accomodate mixer
short length tubing with good flow
compact

Answer = EL ?

Here's another photo courtesy of cboz (nice looking engine bay too).

It's an EF with a BA cross pipe and BA airbox.
