I had the 1636 Wade cam. Got 130rwkw & 370nm torque.
The 977B-14 Wade cam. Got 148rwkw & 410nm torque.
All this with the standard ecu. The 977B cam s**t all over the 1636 cam all accross the rev range in power & torque.
I have faxed both my dyno pappers to Keith & Chris at Wade Cams & expressed how happy i was with the 977B-14 Wade Cam.

Will go even better if you get a tune, when I ran that cam my car was running on the rich side (not majorly though, I didn't notice until I got it tuned). Picked up somewhere around 5% more mid-high end torque with a J3 chip.

It is probably the best Wade cam if you want it for a daily driver with balls, 1521A is still driveable on the street but you need to be spinning your engine pretty fast to justify it over the 977B.

977b has always been a nobrainer for me just wondering what power figures people have pulled with it i would really like 150-160rwkw upwards

Is the engine already built? What is the compression? With 9.5-10:1 comp and a good tune you should get over 150 through the auto with a 977B without the nos.

Are the pistons and rods same size as standard? How far down the bore are they? How thick is the headgasket when compressed? Do you know what the cc of your heads (or know if much was taken out of the bowl)?

Even if you have a general idea you will be able to compare to stock sizes and get a a general idea. To figure static compression it is just volume at BDC divided by volume at TDC.
Head cc+piston dish+(headgasket thickness+piston distance down bore+stroke).pi.r^2 (ie BDC)
Head cc+piston dish+(head gasket thickness+piston distance down bore).pi.r^2 (TDC)

I'm chasing a camshaft too ive got the following mods to my ed xr6
*adjustable fuel pressure regulator
*shift kitted auto (variable)
*pacemaker extractors
*2.5" cat back mandrel exhaust
*200cpi high flow cat
*3.45:1 lsd diff gears
*also a brand new eliminator chip from jim mock untuned so far
*new fuel pump and injectors
*3" intake pipe from airbox to throttle body
*std ED XR6 Cam and head
*also have a police pack eb ECU too it seems to run better with it than the ed xr6 ecu
any particular cam i have been reading about them and think a wade 1636 cam would be good i have a spare GLI cam out of a eb falcon and also i'm looking at getting vernier gears for the cam and then getting the chip put in and tuned to suit the cam also would there be a great deal of change in the rev's i'm doing if i changed to 4.11:1 gears from my standard 3.45:1 gears?
hopefully monday ill be sending my standard gli eb cam to wade to get a regrind and can anyone help me out with a set of shims or has a wade 1636 cam for sale?

160rwkw is no little thing! you will need alot more for that power and a stock converter is 2000rpm you would be after at lease a 2500 hi stall..

then it comes down to do you like a smooth idle or rough idle? for cam choice..

well the plans at a later date was to put a super charger on it but ive been told that the BTR 4 speed auto will only take 200rwkw and there no good ive already got an aftermarket tranny cooler on it and an electronic shift kit (variable) and thinking about going manual but its a lot of money and then if you get a half flogged out 5 speed your out a pocket more money? I've done all the std mods like intake exhaust and leads plugs etc slotted rotors and pedders lowered springs and boge shocks all new rubbers through out also im looking to upgrade the mags ie ba 18's with spacer and sell the stock 5 spoke xr mags new tyres etc? was looking at a jim mock head ( street fighter) and i cant find a 3 layer steel au head gasket to bump my compresion up at all anywhere not even ford have em?

my btr has been tricked up and will take over 200rwkw. a tired T5 will take 200rwkw but not for long before having to be stripped down and re-built.

Mate i'd be looking at a bigger cam with a hi stall to suit. Like green machine said you'll at least need a 2500 stall because the kind of cam you'll need to hit 160rwkw will make your bottom end suffer a bit. The 1636 cam is suitable for an auto, sure, but if you want decent power you'll need a bigger cam than that. I reckon the 1636 would be a good cam if you just wanted it for a little more low down torque on the street or for towing etc.

With your mods and the mods you plan on doing (i.e tune) i'd probably go straight for a Wade 977b or bigger. That cam combined with a 2500 stall and tuned properly should go well and be a good street setup IMO - i've researched the 977b to death and im sold on it lol, which is why i will be using one in my auto EF later on down the track.
