head shaving bumps up the compresson of the motor. just be careful not to go overboard with it!

compression is the best way to make horses and torque....but if you start going ballistic, you would need to blueprint the heads, install strengthend pistons (forged/alloy) and offcourse water injection ALL to avoid pre-ignition/detonation.

more squeeze more power ( greater cylinder pressures ) but very little if its just a minor material remove for straightening purposes
i
e head bent replacing head gasket

yes a good way of increasing power output , source a cylinder head that will fit on ur car with a smaller combustion chamber in the head will also bump up the compression ratio and again more power

also remember higher comp means u have to run better quality fuel

cheers

Sorry to pick s**t, but it has to be the smaller capacity red motor heads, with the smaller kidney shaped cc chambers, to boost compression, like the 149 as mentioned, the 179 and 186 had same capacity cc chambers as the 202.

186 had same c/chamber as 202 but with studs for rockers instead of bolts, 179 had smaller chamber, same deal on the blue motors, 2.8 had smaller c/chamber than 3.3.
