Im using the vortex fuel at the moment, mostly because the servo is right near my work.

My 2 cars are weird, the Laser only likes 95 Premium from BP, and the Falcon behaves best with 95Ron from Shell Apparently fuel ain't fuel? Good thing the 2 servo's aren't that far away.

Its funny you asked this question as i have just been experimenting with different fuels lately. I usually run my car on E10 (its BF so can handle it) but decided to start using Shell V power for 3 tanks and then made a switch to Caltex Vortex for 2 tanks, now I am back E10. I must say the economy seems much better with the higher octane (however my L/100km has remained the same through the test) but the range reading goes down a lot slower using the 98 Ron compared to the E10 (seems to be more accurate as with E10 it will drop by 40km suddenly after about 20km of driving after a full fill – 98Ron didn’t do this at all). Now I know the E10 burns quicker so you use more but the difference is rather a lot, however for the price difference of the 98 (usually 15-18cents more than E10) I really don’t think it’s worth it. I am going to use the e10 for a little while and then start using the 95Ron (what they now call normal unleaded) and see if that’s sort of half way between the two.

TROYMAN wrote: i now only use bp ultimate 98 or shell v power 98.. Ditto, and sometimes Vortex 98 if I get stuck. Pings on anything else.

Next refill I might try out the ultimate or v power, Ive noticed after I got the car and started using vortex the car makes a whirring sound when idling.

I've been filling up recently with the local 100 octane stuff around the corner. Doesn't ping and runs quite smooth. Although it's normally $1.30+ a litre....

I use BP Ultimate 98 RON......it's $1.40+ a litre here.....and I only get it from the one servo...and it is out of the way....opposite direction to work......and since I work at night, I fill up at night, and I'm usually the only one there.

When I fill up with LPG, anything BUT BP! I seem to get lots of dirty gas from them. I prefer SupaGas, as it's 100% propane, but it's a 30min drive from me, so I don't get to fill on it often. Usually shell or safeway is where I'm filling on LPG, I get plenty of 4cents dockets given to me, so why not save some money?
When I fill up with petrol, I'm usually filling up on E10, I find my EB seems to run better on it than regular unleaded. I have not played with premium grade fuels of 98 or higher ron in a long time, just can't afford it, for the little I gained from it. The mighty boy also runs better on e10 than regular, but the last time I ran on 98 (it's only a 25lt tank to fill lol), I think it was shell v power, it didn't run very good at all, the carby required adjustment to get the most from it. Cheers ToranaGuy

I've never used E10, I usually get 95 RON (Premium) whenever I can, the car seems to prefer it (idles a little smoother, bit of a difference in power but not much) and occasionally I'll splurge and get 98 RON but it's so damn expensive! If I'm only getting like $20 worth or something I'll just get normal 91 RON but for a full fill which I do once a week I'll use Premium.. usually from Shell, sometimes Caltex/Safeway and rarely BP.
