Just wandering what ignition timing are you running on your engine with a performance cam.
I am running 2 degrees advanced extra in other words 12 degrees base timing. I just feel it needs more ignition timing for my engine. I just like to hear what you guys are running before i start to experiment on my engine. I am running premium 98 octane fuel all the time.

i dont have an after market cam but im running about 13 to 14 degrees and it does not ping at all with premium and i have a manual. it goes a s**t loads better as well, compared to having it at 10 degrees or retarded i think with a lumpy can high octane and advanced timing will get the most out of it

Put the ecu in base ign timing mode first.
rotate dizzy anti-clockwise. 1.5mm on the crank pulley is about 1 degree.

timing light is required................

I'm running a stock cam, and a piggy back ECU, but have the base timing at 16dgs and is advanced by about 4 dgs ( thats whats added to the original ignition curve) up to about 3500rpm then 2dgs up to 4500rpm.
It doesn't ping, using ULP, and the donk ain't real good....LOL.

This is what I got the ute to run best with gas. It goes like a cut snake.

Thank you very much guy's i appreciate & value all your inputs. I was thinking about 15-16 deg. base timing due to the fact i have the std. (f/mont ghia) ecu.

A Moristech unit. You can change the ignition map & fuel maps separately.

RESULTS.
I have the timing set at 18-20 degrees in link mode.
And approx. 30-32 degrees at total. NO PINGING.
My car excelerates alot faster. It hunts at idle in park or nutral for a bit & then settles but no hunting in drive. I can live with that. I am very happy with the results, TRY IT.
