Umm you've changed the title from 4480 Vs 4499's.. this reads terrible now!

I've been quoted $80.00 at an exhaust place that I've always found to be very reasonable and cheap. I ended up just buying a high flow cat and pacey comps from him and it only cost $640.00 fitted.

i asked an exhaust dude and he said that the 4499 non comp ones give around 4kw at the wheels.
he then said that the comp ones will give you as "strong 14 at the wheels". he said there is hardly any difference between stock manifolds and 4499's. he said i would be wasting my money on 4499's. is this true? |

The stock ford headers are pretty much crap, any aftermarket header (pacemaker, lukey, genie, wildcat etc) will be heaps better. The difference between peak power output on a dyno between the 2 types would only be marginal. But there would probably be different torque curves. Both will give you about 5-10 rwkw but that's counting on the rest of the exhaust being 2.5in cat and 2.5in exhaust. Here's a pic of the stock ford headers vs pacemaker 4499's. As you can see the stock headers looks better suited on a tractor.

I'd say the same thing if I had a shop. what would a retail outlet prefer? 450 or $700 in the till? IMO the 4499's are a great compromise and I think they sound better than the 4480's EITHER one of them you'll gain in a few ways: heat, flow, note and looks. as stated, if you donk is stock or even little cam, and pipes and want economy and a little bit more umph go the cheaper ones. If you want to spend all your pennies on the car, go the bling so called best. Money wasn't an option for me, I went the 4499's and I am very pleased with the results.

on a stock motor the diffrences wont be noticable but both will be heaps better then the stock ones. but ive herd of many people with worked motors changing from 4499's to 4480's and were very pleased with the results.. in conslusion if your going to further mod up you car(cam etc) go the comps, if not get the 4499's.

smoke has the spaghetti looking ones and his ef does 15 sec's flat. its a stock engine and a manual lsd etc, but I do think they are a better option.

Has anyone got their standard heat shield back over either 4499's or 4480's?
I know you can't fit 4480's if you already have a gas converter in place, but if you fitted the 4480 s first, and then got a gas conversion done, could they work around it? |
