Hey Guys, sorry for the stupid question. Havnt got a work manual as yet.
What is this, why does it seem to have oil leaking from it and how easy (seems it) is it to replace or at least replace the gasket on it. This isnt my car by the way, but it will do as an example Thanks. |

and if oils coming out of it, i think it would be blocked, and to replace, u need to remove therocker cover... not 100% sure though.

You can just pull it off...don't need to remove rocker cover...well mine just pops off by pulling it up. The plastic bit (the actual unit itself) comes off leaving the rubber on the rocker cover.

It probably is blocked since it makes a zapp noise like a quiet bug zapper.

that sound means its working, light clicking noise.
vacuum builds up in the intake manifold and sucks the pcv valve open to vent fumes out the motor then it shuts again and repeats over and over. watch out taking the pcv valve out, the plastic part is sometimes brittle and the whole thing can fall apart with bits dropping in the rocker cover. the pcv grommet is available from fords , the grommets can go brittle too and fall apart into the rocker cover so be carefull, sometimes u may need to remove the rocker cover to replace them if bits drop in. |

Also my car is dual fuel if that makes a difference with this next bit. But when i switch the car to On in the ignition without turning the car on. I can hear a squeak noise coming from underneath the bonnet. Havnt found what it could be yet. Dont laugh but its an "errk errk" sound.. haha Seems to be on the passanger side, just wondering what are some things to look at first. |

Pull it out of the grommet while the engine is running - put your thumb over the bottom, if there's strong suction, and the engine starts faltering, it's fine.

Yes it is, about to do the test you suggested to me before.
So why does this need to have a metal body instead of the plastic one? |

That is kind of normal, it's just the fuel pump providing fuel to the injectors and what not so the car starts up almost straight away instead of waiting for fuel to be pumped. |

Hey guys, sorry for the slack responce.
I had a look at the PCV Valve, wasnt able to pull it out as it felt like it was going to break. It does have a bit of movment. Prob 1-2mm in either direction which seems like the cause of a slow oil leak.. Should it just pull out or screw out? |

Sounds like it may take a bit of persuasion, and leaning into the the engine bay will only inhibit your ability to remove it without breaking something

Jiggiling it side to side a little seemed to let it slip out, must be all the oil around it. Haha.
The Valve works as snap0964 said it should. Its just really noisy. Not sure if a new one would fix that? The leak is either coming from the valve (new grommet?) or the oil cap. Here are some images for curiosity's sake. Needs a good clean one weekend. |
