it could be anything from induction noise to gear whine,,,and not all cars sound the same,,you could put 3 identical car in a row and they'll all sound different..

If it only does it in 1st and/or 2nd and changes pitch on the gear shift then its gearbox whine, All falcons do it. But if it just keeps getting louder with road speed then its diff whine.

id say its your gearbox, quite normal in a falcon.
when i put my short shifter in you could really hear it in all gears except 4th.

I think if you got a towpack with the extran trans cooler from the factory, like my dad, you can reduce the noise a bit. His car has under 180,000 and his trans (V8 though, if that makes a difference) makes less noise than the +190,000 Falcon 6 mum has (no towpack).
Just a thought. My dad said to me always get a towpack, so when somebody drives up the back of you, you get some protection for the back of your car, and you get to destroy their radiator! |
