hi everyone,

just finished uni exams and i thought that was stressful, but now my ef falcon has blown a headgasket and dropped a cylinder!! engine done almost 300,000km. i feel like just writing the car off on insurance but that prob not the thing to do cause i love my car!! what should i do? should i get the head fixed and recondition it? or get a au motor and do a conversion? mite even chuck in a manual if i change engine. au xr6 engine would be nice.... What do people think best way to go??

cheers

Its not the end of the world !!!

Just get the head crack tested and looked over, amybe it needs reconditioning.... maybe not.

Regardless, get it machined flat and fit with an AU metalgasket & AU headbolts and maybe even a performance regrind cam & your car will be going better than ever !!

well if ya stressed with $$ a AU conversion + manual box will cost way more than a simple head gasket change over, and if u want the cam it can be done down the rd

biggest money saver right there.

If you can do it yourself, and engine and manual conversion can cost you up to $2000 or more, give or take on reconditioned or not.

Though manual conversion can cost you as little as $100 if you can get the conversion for the right price and sell the pieces you don't need for a good price.

Considering you are stuck for money, I say just get the head crack, pressure tested and resurfaced. Then just put it all together again.

phong =P~
