hi all i got a xf falcon 250 crossflow and was thinking of supercharging it and need to know what size supercharger to use. iv been told the toyota 4agze would be ok is this true. how hard would it be to set up. supercharges can be suck through or blowthrough hay. thanks

The Toyota supercharger will be fine - so long as your removing the crossflow to find a 4 cylinder engine. If your planning on sticking with the 6 cylinder your going to need something with more puff. eBay USA often has relatively cheap superchargers, but it would mean all the brackets etc will be fully DIY.

4agze is off the 1.6 corolla doubt it would be worth the effort of all the custom work needed..
(not that i know too much) If you want something second hand maybe the commo ones off the supercharged s would be better or even off an old jag/merc |

thanks guys im not after masive power, after all the engine is in my land cruiser im happy with the power i got now just want a bit more of a kick in the pants make another 40kw would this charger make me that mutch more power. thanks

I'm not overly familiar with the Toyota superchargers, but pretty sure that they're a centrifugal model, so they take some revs before they start making boost. Now on a larger capacity engine, such as the 4.0L, they probably don't have enough puff to even make boost, or unlikely must more than a psi or 2 right at the very top of the rev range - in which case I'd imaginge the restriction from small diameter of the inlet and outlet, the extra air intake piping length etc. would just end up doing more damage to your low and mid range power than any gain you would receive. Think about, being an OEM supercharger it was never really anything flash even for the engine it went on, it was only design to give a small 1.6L engine a bit more of a kick. To try and now get it to do the same job on an engine almost 3 times the capacity is dreaming. And you'll probably find that spinning it faster won't do much good as a. it probably couldn't handle the extra internal RPM and would s**t itself, and b. it would probably be running very inefficent and not doing much. Maybe if you run 2 or 3 of them you'd be alright, but for all that hassle and extra expense you might as well just do it properly and get a supercharger designed for such a size engine. |

The toyota blowers are positive displacement. And being so small they'd only be okay if you don't plan on taking your motor past 2000rpm. +1 for a raptor.

im thinking of going with a eaton m90 supercharger like whats on the supercharged commodores does any1 know some1 selling one of these superchargers. thanks

I have a commodore one sitting in the shed but can't get it to fit under the bonnet without it looking obvious.

yazholes wrote: does it matter if the teflon coating is removed from the blades. thanks I think its safe to say that if you do that then you have junked a perfectly good supercharger. the coating is there to help the lobes seal among other things. Removing that coating is nothing short of mechanical suicide. |

If you want to go down the PD blower line, an sc14 unit from a soarer would be better than the gze unit. Not all factory blown cars go as gay as the comode.
