Hi All,
This is a extention on my EF/EL headgasket thread as im sure most of us would like to prolong the replacement of our headgasket as its a expensive task. My car sits smack bam in the middle between the Start of R and that end of M and ultimatly i would like it to sit end of A start of M to help the headgasket last. I tested a 72 degree thermostate on a 23 degree day and still sat start of R and end of M Please vote where you car usually sits and if under the letter A then please post some details as in if its the original radiator or aftermarket and whatr coolant you use and thermostate u use as well. We will use the letter system from right to left just like how the niddle moves for temp. NORMAL So N will be left and L for right Picture below shows the niddle sitting there as my car has been sitting there for about 45mins after a 40min drive and the red line risembles where it usually sits. I would ultimatly like to to sit somewhere near where the niddle is sitting now or under the blue line.

If you put your dash in diagnostic mode you can read the exact temp at the coolant temp sensor(thermostat housing). On my car that line just below (L) is 82 degrees. So by the time mine reaches operating temp, remember a thermostat takes a further 4-6degrees to become fully open it sits between A/L.
On the Highway 25-35degree ambient temp sits just under A. On the Highway 35-45degree ambient temp sits just under M. This is with climate a/c set at 20 degrees...Temp cools a fit bit further when not running a/c. I posted under (A)- 82 degree Tridon thermostat, original ford radiator.

Mine runs very cool. Its sits just under the "L" poretty much all the time. I have a standard EF radiator, with standard EF fans running from the standard temps through the EF ecu, and a 82deg thermostat, and i am in a hotter climate than you, .
If you used a 72 deg thermostat on a 23deg day and iut run where you said, your car has serious issues.

Don't know about the ef/el's but my ED was having trouble overheating when towing a long time before I got it it turns out that when the cars came out of the factory there was ALOT of casting sand left in the radiator, we got all of that s**t out and its all good!

you'd be best to find the dash mod thinger that gives you the exact temp read out
for the record, mine is 35% with a 91c which runs about 90.5c funny enough
