LOL, this coming from a guy who just sold a 1.5L lancer??? Nah - just kidding, welcome aboard. But rest assured my auto falcon is far from sluggish There was reference to a document detailing recommended mods for you 6 cyl guys. Just in case you havent found it: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=66

Good to hear you are buying an XR6. I have an EF XR6 5 speed, mostly std. I just got it back from a service and very happy with the performance, more than capable to melt the rear tyres! Probably why i still have 15 inch wheels, cheaper to replace!!
Good luck and i hope you find a nice example. |

I have an EL XR6 falcon, they are pretty quick out of the box. Definelty looking forward to the manual conversion next month although the auto is very nice and is by no means sluggish

its debatable, but yes the BTR can be built pretty tough
T5's can be built pretty tough too using z spec bits but its all N/A here. T5 always wins (histall or not)

fairly sure
the T5 isnt exactly known for its strength. but itll still hold up enough for most purposes

Yea i give my T5 in my EFXR6 a hard time, but its behind a basically stock motor. The clutch caple snapping was the only problem, easily fixed. The only other option in manuals is the tremec or something. But if it doesnt break, dont replace it hahaha

Yeah I'll prolly burn the box then buy the tremec 5 speed bit more strength.
If the ghias didn't look like an old man car I'd buy it :p. I've wanted an EL XR6 since I was about 13 so there's not much chance of convicing me otherwise... |

Yes. behind the right motor, a well built auto will usualy be quicker/stronger than the same motor with a manual. 90% of the quickest cars at the tracks run autos. Yes i know not alot run the BTR4 speeds though! Mostly C4's, 2 Speed powerglides, Turbo 700's, Jatco (behind the VL Turbos) By a well built auto i mean a box with transbrake, hi stall, shift kit, kevlar clutches n bands, strengthened internals, the lot! very $$$. But you think, Pyroay was lookin at somethin like $8000 for a 6 speed manual to have behind his 407rwkw EL xr6 turbo. As far as i can remember that was bout the only manual box that could constantly and reliably handle the power of his car, as it see's alot of street duty plus towing.
