Didnt get through the whole thread (time), but have you considered either :
1. Ford Escape 3.0 V6, with the Supercharger from the states
2. Mazda CX-7 Turbo 3.5l V6 engine in current Mazda CX7.

Both of these engines are fairly direct derivatives of the engine ford is talking up for the new falcons to come. I found the 3.0 a bit peaky towing an escape, but with the S/C it would be about right ;)

Thanks for the constructive input. I'll see if i can research those.

Forget your nissans, holdens, mitsus, and euro trash if you want to use a motor that has potential use the supra 2j. These motors support 600hp stock and you should be able to get a front cut, have it fitted and running for aroung the 10k mark. They fit without to many probs and are a very safe motor. But as some onehas already said why worry about handling and weight dist. When your car is set up like it is? This is a question you would expect from a kid

The 2JZ-GTE I6 is an inline motor that likely weighs more than the Ford I6. So it would be an irrelevant or backwards step in terms of weight and weight distribution. Maybe i should have phrased the thread title in relation to what it's really all about, weight and weight distribution. Maybe i will change the thread title, i'll see.

Also, as mentioned previously, maybe you missed it, this thread is not specifically in relation to my vehicle. Weight and weight distribution is relevant to all performance orientated falcon users, although those focused on burnouts and related activities will have different priorities to most others.

Mate your fixated on changing the weight distribution in a falcon, and why? it will never handle like a European or Jap car.

Adjusting the suspension and associated components along with brakes will improve the car's handling greatly. f**k this weight distribution s**t, you've had your head stuck in too many Automotive engineering text books.

A falcon isn't a race car, for one, the chassis isn't the strongest.

And i don't see why your going to all this effort, when it will only be used on the road, a boosted falcon + Suspension and brake upgrades will handle great and have extremely impressive acceleration for the weight.

I really don't see what your trying to accomplish here mate?

Put a whipper snipper motor in it, then you won't have any issue's with weight distribution.

Ignoring the fact that this is a profoundly stupid idea*.

How about the V6 in the Mazda CX9. It's most likely what the Falcon will get in 2010 anyway. It's a Ford engine at heart, and you can get AWD driveline components for it too.

Convert your EB to a AWD V6.

* For handling improvements, any weight saving/distribution enhancements you'd make by moving engine weight further back would still be nullified by the s**t 4x4 spec suspension setup and balloon tyres. Fix that first. A Falcon with a good suspension setup (check out Whiteline's kits) handle corners very well.

In short if you want a 4x4 with ground clearance, it's not going to handle well. If you want something that'll handle well it's going to be s**t off road. Fact.

You wont agree with me, but, Your better off going a later falcon 6, mildly working that, then spend ALLL that extra dough you would spend putting in a s**t 6 cylinder on the suspension components to make it handle good....
