I did some research a while ago into what V6 motors might be of interest to fit to a falcon, mainly for the reason of weight reduction and distribution, giving better handling and traction.
I considered the ford 4.3V6 (America only), commodore V6's (buick 3.8, ecotech 3.8, factory blown ecotech 3.8, alloytech 3.6), ford explorer 4.0 V6, jap V6's (capacity too small, need turbo), and maybe some others. It was hard if not practically/financially impossible to come up with something that would match the falcon six for bottom end and midrange power, smoothness and fuel economy. Now that the hilux is fitted with a 200kW 4.0 V6 i reckon that would be a stonking motor, even nicer if it has an alloy block, i'm not sure about that, but the cost could be very high. In another thread a Supra motor was suggested, they are 3.0 twin turbo to my knowledge. Any ideas on this topic?

A supra 2JZ-GTE would be an option, but why? it's cheaper and easier to work the falcon 6 with forced induction, it will be more than enough fun!

now, the only reason i could see for wanting/needing better weight distribution, is in a race car.
IF you were considering for that reason, you could get the same result for less money by simply cutting the firewall and moving the original engine back about 12". as for any other reason, there simply isn't one that would justify the cost |

The BA/BF conversion requires adding an ecu, so a hilux motor might not be too much more work, and has more power. I think the current pathfinder/navara also has a 200Kw 4.0 V6. These are north-south engines of course, and smooth and economical.
Soon new falcons will come out with V6's, and people will eventually want to fit them to earlier models. This is a way of getting in early. A V6 fitted to a falcon designed for an inline 6 will see about say 3/4 of the engine's weight behind the front axle line, which is up there with exalted company. The falcon is designed for family motoring, but that doesn't mean we can't turn them into sports cars.

the toyota V6 and nissan V6 also have no aftermarket support, the BA/F I6 has more then it needs. |

Plenty of people in Australia have fitted 1UZE's into all sorts of vehicles, why not the above? I know TRD does some special stuff to many toyota motors, for those that want a hot motor.

haha, all I can think of is the list of problems my mates dad has had with his new lux.
Now they've driven nothing but lux's for a fair few years and reckon this one is a fair f**k failure by comparisson. nissan hmmm, pricey for parts springs to mind atleast they use to be.

[ps - i personally think the current hilux is an abortion of a thing in terms of look and proportions, but don't know how their mechanicals are shaping up.]
