what is needed for this conversion othen than the obvious engine, and computer and sump mod. how much of the wiring needs to be changed and do i need the alternator off the ef or the au?

to run the au vct engine with the au ecu in your ef, you need to use the whole au engine loom and possably dash loom...as there is just to many differences in the wiring from ef to au..
otherwise the easiest way is to fit the engine using the ef ecu and loom and hook up the vct solinoid to an rpm switch.. why do you want to use a vct engine?? |

ive just been thinking about it for a while, just thought if i wanted to go turbo later it would be better being vct and the stronger bottom end,

ok..
well the bottom ends in au are all the same, std, tickord hp and tickford vct, no difference in strength.. my engine is/was a vct engine.. but due the lack of performance cams available for the vct engine,(unless you want to pay big$$$ for a jmm vct cam) i removed the vct cam and cam gear and threw it in the bin and fitted a wade non vct regrind.. stock for stock the vct has more power than the std non vct xr6 engine, imo just by fitting a regrind to a non vct engine output will be higher than the std vct engine anyway.. but its your choice of course.... |

Slight thread high-jack but....
I have a VCT AU and a AU Cam with a nice grind... Obviously it won't bolt into the VCT (or am I wrong)? Can I remove the VCT components and run it as a non vct? Any suggestions welcome as cam is just sitting there with nothing to do. |
