Hey everyone,
Most engines seem to have a name ie. FJ20, SR20, Cleveland, Windsor, 12A, 13B, RB30. And sometimes have some additional info which can help identify what you're talking about ie. 'T', 'ET', 'DET'. I have a mate who's really into his silvias, and i like it that when he says 'Red-top SR20DET' i know fairly precisely which engine he's talking about. So: I drive an EBII 6 cylinder, whats the engine called? Does the block have a name? Do any of the many variations have names? I used to refer to my XF motor as a 'carby 250 x-flow', which seemed to convey a fair bit of info. Also i've heard people calling the new DOHC motors the 'barra'. When i talk to my Ford savvy mates its all 'the AU blocks got this' and 'the EA single point's a sack of crap' and so on. I also have no idea what to say when someone who doesn't know Fords well goes 'oh a falcon, cool, whats in it?'....'well the EBII 6 because its an EBII and it doesn't sound like a V8'. I hope that conveys my dilemma. Cheers. |
