Hey guys, as the title says, what exhaust are you guys running with a worked ohc 6?
Ive been thinking of changing mine to a 3inch (recomended by engine builder). I tried out my 2.5ich off at the diff the other day just to see what its like. Felt alot better. Seemed to go a bit harder. But can't live with it so reattached it. Cheers guys.

I would say. 2.5" is good enough especially for every day driving. Whereas 3" is mainly for track, cause you don't really need back pressure when you're at WOT.
Stick with 2.5" unless you have a turbo. phong =P~

what work have you got done? 3" is great for a fairly wild 6, unless you have a wild 6, stick with a mandrell bent 2.5"

i have a 2.5" single muffler exhaust, sounds great,
but where im at i feel i should have moved to a 3", as being manual i give stuff all about sub 2000rpm, if i was keeping it i would have gone 3". do it, alot of people will say neg things about the 3", but in the end its a possible restriction that you can remove why not? |

if its fairly wild, ei, big cam, headwork.. maybe oversized bottom end, then you can benefit from 3 inch. will feel slightly more doughy at low rpm part throttle (especially if you have an auto), ie day to day normal driving, but will feel alot more alive and revvy at the top end.
sometimes you can pick up a bit of flow with a high quality low cpi cat, and better flowing mufflers like bassani, borla, hooker etc.

In my EB I have a stock internally engine with some pacemaker extractors, commodore cat (i was on a tight budget at the time!), one smallish 2.5" straight thru muffler, and that was it for a while. Felt great from 2500rpm thru to redline (T5 manual box) but was a little doughy below 2500rpm.
The fun police didn't like the roar of my EB(130db peak noise acc to exhaust shop, i seen the meter myself!), so i had to make it a bit quieter. I had a redback high flow resonator fit after the diff & the EB is so much quieter now, I hate how quiet it is, but I must admit it drives better below 2500rpm now. It still only just scrapes in under the EPA noise limits. Damn fun police! If i was going to do some serious work to the engine or turbo it, i'd be going 3". I'm getting a 3" system for my 173ci (2.8lt) Torana, as it has a T04 turbo on it. Anything smaller would be too restrictive. Cheers ToranaGuy

Sorry, cbf typing it again, apart from NO ONE EVER MENTION BACKPRESSURE AGAIN.

I made 137.5 rwkw with my 300,000 klms motor with just this exhaust and a 977b spec cam - thats with a Hi-Stall convertor which would suck some rwkw's
I can only attribute the reading to the exhaust - was at a dyno day so compared with others and work done to other cars and as my rwkw was higher it can only be for one reason - the exhaust - cant be the 300K motor Pacemaker 4480"s with 3" Flange - HPC Coated 3" Flange to 3" Magnaflow Cat 3" Pipe reduced to 2.5" for Cat Back Exhaust

Based on that, I would go Pacie Comps with a 3" flange, 3" cat and a 3" exhaust
