Hey guys, Ive been having a few dramas.
On a recent drive, cool day, bit of traffic, i noticed that my temp gauge had risen quite a lot more than usual. I was a little concerned as it hadnt come back down, so i came back home, checked fluids, which were fine, but noticed that the fans werent on. Ok, I put a bottle of radiator flush in today, flushed the old coolant out, replaced the thermostat, new radiator cap and new nulon coolant. Started the motor, let it idle till i saw the fans come on, topped up with fresh water and let it idle for around 10-15 mins. Put the dash into diagnostic mode and showed a temp of 98. Turned it off, left it for a few mins then went for a drive. Temp was a consistent 93.5, Highest point was 98, lowest was 92. Speed was between 60-80k's, over about 10k's Im only a little concerned because the needle still sits too high on the gague for my liking. It sits in the correct place when switched off, so maybe its just me. Also, My fuel light comes on at the 1/4 tank mark, without fail. Diagnostics mode shows 8L of fuel. I fueled up with 30L and the diag showed a level of 37L, so perhaps I have a dud cluster?

its posted somewhere on the forum.
Hold Odo reset button for 10sec with engine off. switch key to on, holding button. with key in the on position, push the button 3 times, holding the last time till seatbelt light goes out. realease button and screen blacks out. from there, push odo button to change thru different diags, there is 18. check on the site for a meaning of them all

Hi .
The correct tempreture on the gauge should be between 1/4 to 1/2 half. It sounds like the radiator has a slightly restricted core. These radiators are awsome as you can clean them yourself. Take the radiator out and proceed to remove the header tanks off it. push back the metal clips and pull the metal braces away, ones thats done remove the tanks and get your dipstick out of your engine. Use the dipstick to clean the passages and then blow some normal garden hose pressure in it. Then do the same to the other side. Blow them through again and then just look through the holes and you should be able to see daylight on the other end. put the rubber seals in the grooves and then reposition the header tanks, place the metal clips back on , use a pair of vice grip pliers to push the tabs down again. This will fix your problem, and you save yourself quite a bit of cash . |

Concerned that I will go to the trouble of doing this and then get a leak. I will give it a go as it will obviously save me some cash. Do you have any tips to help avoid leaks?? |
