That would be the gasket that sits on the top of the timming cover
Does your head gasket cover the timing cover, or does it finish at the front of the block? Station-rat |

well there was another similar looking but skinner gasket fo the same size that I fitted, it was the same as the one that I removed off the top of the timing cover.

thats for an EA timing cover gasket,ED and i think the rest are really skinny like a EF/EL rocker cover gasket

I guess that explains why the gasket kit is for EA to AU then, cheers mate. |

Don't use it, selastic and plenty of it works much better. Those gaskets fail quick time.

If you use the rubber gasket, coat both sides with flange sealant (Loctite 515 or 510). This will maintain a permanent seal regardless of the rubber going hard. Otherwise use Threebond, its now virtually the same price as the Permatex and Locitite RTV sealants. Its like chaulk and cheese over the other offerings. I would also use it on the sump gasket replacing the cork.
Regardless of method clean the surfaces with brake clean just before sealing to ensure a permanent seal. |
