hey guys i established i need a new right front wheel bearing on my EB2, firstly do wheel bearings have to be replaced in pairs or sets or can i just do the one that needs?
second is it a big job or can it be done at home with a little know how and the tools and a haynes manual? or is it better to take it to the shop to be done? any help/feedback would be good, thanks |

Always better to do both bearings. Also dont be lazy and not change the cups/cones. It's easy to do, I've done heaps of falcon bearings. When you go to knock out the cones, I use a piece of 3/8" mild steel rod. Dont use pin punches because they can damage the surface of the cup/cone. SHould take about 20 minutes to do it once you have done a few. If you need help, just ask.

It is pretty simple to replace, assuming you have the tools required to do the job. I'd personally would replace all bearings at the same time...that way you don't have to do the other side once it wears out/breaks down.
You can buy bearing kits from say Burson/Repco. Burson charge $54 odd for both sides for the fronts...this includes the bearings needed (4 in total) and hub seal (2 in total). If you don't want to spend the money, you can always just do the one side . Just to let you know, you will need to torque the retaining nut to 30Nm...so you'll need a torque wrench. I can't remember what size nut it was...I think 24mm...so you'll need a big socket for the retaining nut.
