Hey........ I have a EF XR6 manual with the original 15's on it. I recently purchased the BA XR6 turbo 17's for it - but coz the BA has a different off-set to EF i had to purchase spacers to make it all work and sit right.
Its looks extreamly good and even better since i lowered it.... but one slight problem?????? at higher speeds my steering wheel has the shakes (not to bad but worse at higher speeds - 110km its a little shakey but at 150km its much worser)...... im told its either the spacer not sitting exactely in the middle or the tyres....... (i think it might be the tyres - coz i bought them from a wreaker with about 60% rubber - bridgestone g-grid)..... i have had the new wheels balanced and thats all fine in that regard...... the tyre place reckons new tyres would correct the problem. (the tyre place isnt ripping me off either - its my mates work shop) What are ur thoughts????

well to get on the soap boxwhat the hell are you doing going 150Kph in a state that has a top speed limit of 110..
as for the rest did they do the right thing and balance them and did you get a wheel alignment,do them first and see how it go's,,,

I the same trouble with mine. I did everything that was reckomended and it always was left with a slight vibration thing.
I say just put up with it or dont drive as fast. By the way i have removed mine due to saftey issues.

Are you talking about spacers or hub adaptors here mate?
I fitted AU/BA off set rims to my EL via hub adaptors and got the same problem. The fix was to take the wheels back to were I got 'em and have 5 shallow holes drilled into the back of each wheel for the original studs to fit into so as the wheel is flat up against the hub adaptor. |

space = illegal...why? If they are not perfectly flat they have a tendancy to cause the wheel nuts to become lose from vibrations..would be rare...but more than possible.
hub adapters...i rang like 32479324 places and couldnt find them cos i wanted the BA 17"'s too but everuone here talks about them, anyone want to release the secret as to where they are hidden in the world? |

You do know that spacers make your car unroadworthy? If you have a stack (at 150km/h?) your insurance doesn't have to pay one red cent?
