This is driving me crazy,
I had the M16 nut off my fan belt tensioner pulley get completely destroyed and need another. Repco, Supercheap Auto, Mitre 10, Lube Mobile, and a Ford Dealers Parts line all told me they cannot get this nut. I will have to start a hunt for it in a ford wreckers I guess, but I thought as a last resort I might ask here. I was told that newer models did not use this nut either so it may be hard to find. Is there anywhere I can buy this from? Online places I've found don't seem to have it either. Right size but not thread. Is there some kind of alternative? (I am not a mechanic, but can figure out how to put a belt on) Another way to replace this little pulley maybe? Any help would be appreciated as this little thing that costs like a few bucks is impossible to find and causing my car to not work. |

Go to the yellowpages and find a nuts and bolts shop. They might be able to find you one or even get one made up.

Look for specialist fastener supplier in your area. Yeah thats the reason I asked. I sell screws, rivets, masonary fasteners etc to the building industry but we also keep a range of bolts and nuts etc it stock. Is it actually M16 (metric)? Or is it Imperial (5/8th") UNF/UNC.. To many bloody choices!! |

- The nut I was after was the fine threaded version, I am not sure of the actual size, but all the ones I found were about 8 layers of rings per 1cm of the bolt, the one Im after is about 15-20 per 1cm.
- Is there a franchise for a nuts and bolts place? Or just look up nuts and bolts? - Never heard of Coventry Fasteners...but I will look. - Yeah its a Metric M16 bolt. - What is a tap and where can I get one? Thanks for the help so far. |

Go to the yellow pages website and look for Engineering Supplies near you.
If the first place you go to doesnt have it they will point you in the right direction of a place to try.

Have you tried going to wreckers and just sourcing one from there since you know what and where it is from?? It will be much easier then trying to find it from other places.
