Hmm dont know about them being limited to 255kph but they definately have a rev limiter i know that much. I just assumed the XR's were speed limited to 180kph as well...?
Ne way im still learning so doesnt matter if im wrong. Also the XR's do have the heavy duty tail shafts too and with the 3:45:1 LSD when would they peak out at (specifically the auto's)?

oh really, thats awsome.
My needle seems to go fastest from 80 to 150kph So that would say to me that most other i6 would be quickest in that area also, hence making the most power to the wheels...right

Its only the 3.08 diff auto cars geared to get the best economy for fleet buyers that were totally nobbled by the stupid gearing. edit: For some strange reason I thought i had a 3.25 diff.. but it appears to be a 3.23. i'll check it tomorrow ford never had a 3.25! 3.08/3.23/3.45 & 3.27's in the EA-ED's...

Then again i could be wrong

The sweet spot in my EL seems to be between 80-130km/h

Before I moded the stuffing out of my AUII XR6 VCT Auto, she was rev limited but not speed limited.
The rev limiter would bounce in around 5500-6000Rpm (red line). I had her up to 240kph (limit of the clock) then backed off. I could just keep my foot on the gas until she reached velocity, NO LIMITIING. Although after about 180kph it is a slow climb upto that speed. From my recollections, I know the AU XR6's and 8's SEDANS had no speed limiter (regardless of auto or manual transmissions). Although the AU XR6's and 8's UTE's were speed limited due to their longer tail shafts. Shugg |

Pretty sure ED's didnt have speed limiters as well, only started with the EF's and onwards.

Just curious, my mates car, an EF GLI, is an ex cop car, it says so in the handbook, that it was owned by vic police, its got the cop computer in it which isnt speed limited, jsut wondering it the tailshaft in that would be strengthened to withstand the higher speeds

I would have to say yes it would most likely have the heavy duty tailshaft.
