hey guys
Car: EF Futura 4.0L

ive been checking my loom for damage and mods to see if i can find the problem for my ac inop.

but when i was looking i noticed that at the eng of the intake manifold loom there a Grey with with white strip without a connector and just sitting there.

where dose it link to on your car???? see pic 1

also

where would i find my Evaporator Sensor on my car???? i beleave it could be faulty cause i got a fault (((838 - Evaporator Sensor shorted to B+ or Vref The evaporator)))


also when u hae a look at the wire just see if you got these relays behind the passenger head light.( i think there aftermarket but) see pic 2

best bet would to look into a gregory's or hayne manual to see what the go it or just chuckinto an auto electricain

im reading the book right now but it very basic on info on the looms.

That wire goes to ground (ie: bolt hole for the ac)

You have a strange AC spacer on that car tho, I've only seen round tubes or alloy slip on spacers.

Ohh, I think its an early Compressor..

With those relays' do any of them connect to the blue wire on the AC compressor itself? Cos that config looks to me like a thermo fan high speed bypass. eg. makes the fans go flat out when ac is on or via a dash switch.

either that or it could be an x cop car. or some old wogs wiring!

Well the engine out of a au so it could be that

the wiring i say option 3!!! wogs wiring car wiring been butchered from the guy who previously owned it.

i looked closerly and notices something weird like the earth off the compressor goes into a diode or resistor under heat shrink.
this this normal???

ahh I see whats going on, No that diode shouldn't be there, altho it was put there for a reason by someone else,
There must has been a problem and voltage spikes at some stage.

When the AC clutch turns off theres a magnetic feedback and can create a rather large voltage spike. and cause problems.

The red wire from the magnet going under the compressor does connect to the blue wire on the loom, +ve for the clutch. earth is well pretty obvious where thats from.

You really need to go through the car and remove all the s**t or figure out what it actually does and why.

The diode may have been put there because it could have been switching solenoids in the auto or for CB interference or even the radio

who knows!

so u agress and remove the diode and wire it to earth???

I won't hold ya to it if something goes wrong LOL

btw that aircon bracket thing is the standard au bracket or an ef bracket (not an early compressor).
el uses a different bracket due to distributor is in the way

ok, theres a diode built into the AC compressor loom already,
it goes from the clutch to the thermal switch (in the compressor)

That one you have doesn't look factory and well.. doesn't look to be rated 5ampish.

So if you look at it, the blue body wire goes into the Blue thermal switch and the outgoing blue wire goes to the red clutch wire with the built in diode Then to the clutch.

I hope that clarifies it!

on mine it goes
blue wire into Blue thermal switch then blue wire out. then goes to male and female plugs and red wires comes out with that diode lonnecting about 1-2cm up the red wire. then the red wire connects to the clutch and the doide goes to black wire and connect to a connector of the front of the ac compressor.
