hey i have just recently bought a set of extrators for my 02 ba falcon ute 6cyl. i wasn't sure weather to go with a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 exhaust or even a 3. im looking for performance but mainly something that sounds decent.
cheers

ild say go a definitly go a 3 inch, how much sound do you want???
if you want it ridiciously loud go with no mufflers, it will save you a bit off $$$. but ild say go one muffler for a nice loud crisp meaty sound. welcome to the fordmods... cheers

3" is too loud and pointless on an n/a 6. A decent 2.5" will do with some good extractors.

many people have gotten good gains from a 3 inch, just remember its a ba so it should be capeable of about 140rwkw, if he does go ahead and get a 2.5 he might have to upgrade to get more power if he plans to do more mods

2.5", straight off the shelf, cheap and easy.
And don't get just one muffler. It will drive you nuts with droning, plus being over the top loud.

imagen how much you wouldve made with a 3inch???? ild say anything exeding 160rwkw deservs a 3inch exhaust. sure you might lose a little bit of bottom end torque but most cars these days have shorter gearing then standard so it wont really matter since if your racing the motor will be in the high revs the majority of the time

hes the one thats bought the extractors, obviously because he obviously wants the power. i still stand by my post and say get a 3inch. 2.5 will do the job but a 3 inch will get you more power upwards from 3000rpm compared to a 2.5. lets face it theres not much mods you can do the the barra i6 but they respond very well to minor mods. make the most of it and get a 3 inch. trust me you wont regret it

Jmm have a kit which looks to make nice gains.
If i ever bought a BA, their kit would be the first thing i'd spend money on |

By that logic how much of an exhaust do you need for 300rwkw for instance.. there's a fair few XR6T's getting around with the stock exhaust making that sort of power level. I'd also rather have bottom end torque then a high revvy buzzmobile motor, that's why I bought a Falcon not a Honda Civic. And even if you do race at the drags or something, saying your engine will be at the top end of the rev range the majority of the time is silly, do you drive all the way down to the strip in first gear?

Ive got a Typhoon exhaust with a hi flow cat and some extractors... it sounds nice, isnt overly obnoxious. No drone on the freeway. But its not overly loud. If you want something overly loud, then just take the rear muffler off your new system. But id say go for the 2.5".

You got s**t for brains if you put a 3 inch on a standard na 6... Ever heard of back pressure levels? nuff said...

The 90's called they want their saying back. Some guy on the XR6T forums with an NA car had a 2.5 inch exhaust, he ran up a number on the dyno then dropped his exhaust after the extractors for a 10 rwkw gain. Considering we are talking NA's thats a fair increase that you may be able to extract (geddit haha) with a 3 inch exhaust over a 2.5 inch one. Either way if he wanted 11ty HP he would have bought a turbo. What other mods did you do to get 185rwkw fnp? I would go a 2.5 inch exhaust because it would be cheaper and you probably wouldnt notice the increase with a 3 inch exhaust over a 2.5 anyways and the 2.5 inch exhaust would be quieter. |
