All late model cars should be run on at least 95, I only run my car on 98octane Ultimate. Get better kms out of a tank and it's better for the engine. Every now and again when Im feeling tight I'll put a bit of 95 in.

And before people say it- Yes I have tried other ratings to BP Ultimate and i did get better fuel effiecency. And no i don't work for BP!!lol.

You can use any rating in the BA/BF but im pretty sure they are over 10:1 compression, so its best to use 95 octane. I use BP ultimate aswell, im not suppose to use 91 octance now becuase it may ping. But yeah im pretty sure it adjusts to what fuel you put in with the BA/BF.

a 98 is best. 95 is what it will run on all day everyday.

i think 91 is not enough for the modern barra and alloytec motors these days tho

I use Vortex Premium 98 (from Caltex) in my BA and I find that the best. Normally average ~500km to the tank.

if you look inside thefiller door you will see that they are ok to run on e10. Not that you would!

they will all happily run on standard 91 octane.

higher octane fuels may see better economy but this is often offset/negated by the higher price. they are also better for your motor so choice is yours.

they do run knock sensing ignition so whatever you run the ecu should pick up on it.

91 is fine. If you want to put in higher octane stuff the B-series knock sensor will detect it and advance the timing to suit.

in the BA 91 cos i cant justify the extra expense of BP Ultimate if the car isnt tuned to use it to its full potential. I put a bit of 98 in now and again when iv got surplus cash. The fairmont only uses Ultimate as it never runs well on 91.
