I know another head thread (hey that rhyms).
I was just about to buy a cam (1673 wade at 114 deg) and I came across another head. I have the std EF head on the motor, running, which they reckon outflow most of the std heads, I have a reco AU head sitting in plastic (only a single seat cut though) and I just came across a tickford head with cam and valve gear of an EL fairlane (the hybrid motor), should have the bigger valves. I was going to put the cam into the EF motor and later do up another EF head to put on later. The same valve train, so nice and easy. Whatever head I use will just have the basics done. A triple seat cut, a shave for comp, if I use the AU one (otherwise just an AU gasket) and also a bit of a cleanup by me, maybe some chamber work depending on head and research. Before you all say get an expert to do it. I've done a lot of motorcycle heads and twostroke port work, I'm not a complete amature and won't be going beserk with the porting tool. I need to make a descision before I order the cam. The EF running the 1.8:1 while the EL and AU are running the2:1 rockers (I think that maybe the wrong way around), They use different cams. What do ya reckon? |

Have you gone ahead with this? I'm about to do my head gasket and am thinking seriously of having a "fiddle".
