I had the auto (114) cam in my manual by mistake (wade sent me the wrong one and I CBF stuffing around sending it back) and it went hard (pulled a 14.8 quarter as I've mentioned numerous times) The idle was pretty well behaved once the computer learned it all so if this 1604 has an even smoother idle and produces more torque, well... it's a bit of a no brainer isn't it!

All timed correctly with vernier cam gear?? I'm sure that if you had no gains or even a loss, wade would take it back and try to have a cam suited to yout engine..

How the new cam compares with the old one? Give us the full rundown.

Many people swear that an AU grind cam will fit the EL Hybrid engines. Is it possible to get the 1604 profile on an AU cam?

If so I'm VERY interested.

Sorry for the delay. I've been trying to get some dyno figures from people who have fitted the 1604. I hope to be able to respond soon.

Got an e-mail from Wade yesterday about this:

Quote:
Hi Scott

Thanks for the inquiry. Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding.

The 1604 profile has been designed to improve the idle characteristics specifically with an auto
as compared to the 1004. An additional benefit, according to those who have fitted the 1604, is
an increase in low end torque.

On this basis, we would recommend the 1604 to you.

We have attached a text file which details the specifications.

Cheers

Chris

WARNING: Cam followers must have good surface finish and correct radius.
Lubricate well, avoid high RPM for the first 2 hours.
To avoid coil-binding, after the tappets are set, check that the valve-
spring can be compressed at least an extra .050" after full lift has
been achieved. This will stop the valve springs from binding

Lift at Tdc is measured at the Lobe - Duration @.050 is .100" at the Valve

Degreeing Your Camshaft Using Lift At TDC Method
(For Pushrod Engines)

First you must establish Top Dead Centre accurately. Once TDC is achieved, with
camshaft in Place insert a Cam Follower into number one Intake Lifter bore.
Now place a pushrod onto that cam follower and mount a Dial Indicator so it is in the
same plane as the pushrod.
Make sure the cam follower is on the heal (bottom) of the lobe and Zero the dial
indicator.
For chain driven camshafts, rotate the camshaft in the same direction of Crankshaft
rotation until the lift at TDC stated on your Cam Card is achieved. Now you can
install the chain and sprocket set.
For gear driven camshafts such as Holden 6cyl, the camshaft will rotate in the
opposite direction to the crankshaft

Any results from Hybrid EL's yet? What would you recommend for an auto I6 Hybrid? Can the 1604 profile be cut to suit?
