I was about to fit a bbm to my EA but I have the normal oil leaks from the front of the head where the head and timing cover meet. MY fault I didn't put the gasket goo far enough back. So I will remove the head and do the job properly this time. My question is what standard head and cam would be the best to fit instead of the old EA head as a slight improvement to performance. Also how much would I be likly to pay.

you can use any head from ea-el all are direct bolt on. when my head gasket shat itself i replaced mine with an ef head and cam it runs a bit better but nothing to write home about. as for prices your best bet is too ring around and just see who will do it the cheapest. mine set me back $150.

Id go with an EF/EL head. According to some good sources, they have alot of meat to play in them (for future modding), and also they flow well stock. Make sure you either get a good head, or get it shaved and tested, and the seals replaced. It will save you later down the track.
If you are after performance head.. for very good value, go into the Alted Performance Section.... have a look at what Jaysen can do for you... he's definately very good with heads. All reconditioned, and worked, so you get the best of both worlds. Cheers

As far as cams go, standard ef/el is meant to be fairly close to eb/ed xr. Well, thats what ive heard
