Same thing I tell everyone else, it really is 100% true too, go premo, try the differnent ones, properly - then make your final decision on which premo worked best for you. Different cars like different fuel, as do different people!

So you know this for a fact? What if I told you that all Safeway fuels are Caltex Fuels?

Im running 95 ron and it isnt as expensive and it seems to be good catch is it is 10% ethanol with bitron which is supposed to be a lubricant/whatever but it is better than 91 octane, supposedly the station attendant has had positive feedback from customers

I might watch TV tonight too, I'll see what they have to say. Ben I also find very little performance differance running higher octane fuels around town. However out on the highway big differance in ecconomy, at least 150ks more out of a tank. I still periodically run Vortex, usually when prices are better, after a passed experiance proved that it cleaned up my injector missing problem a couple of years ago.

What if I told you that all Safeway fuels are Caltex Fuels? well i dunno about anyone else but i'd believe you completely.. saying that, with the duel fuel i use the gas for the drives to and from work (30 min freeway drive).. but on the weekends i run it almost exclusively on Ultimate.. i find it's more responsive, bit better economy (bout .2-.3 l/100km avg.)and because of the detergent type additives they put in it i feel its helping keep the injectors clean. I dunno about anyone else but i really do notice the diff when i have to fill up with even a 95 ron fuel.. i could NEVER go back to 91..

What did they say was the best fuel on ACA or whatever show it was on? And why was it better?

They got 3 Toyota Camrys exactly the same age etc ran 1 with 91RON 2nd one with 95RON and 3rd with 98RON and drove them all over Gosford and the old Pacific Highway on about a tank of fuel and waited to see which one would last the longest. Winner was 1st 95 RON 2nd 98RON last 91RON

After running a few tanks of Ultimate through I've switched back to Optimax as the SOMP dyno shows it pulls harder and more eagerly up top.

exclusively ultimate for me.
in regard to the aca test. obviously they all had diff driver and even though cars were around the same age it means jack. if you had a monday, wednesday and friday car you could get the same variations running the same fuel. also a camry may react diff to a ford or commo. i didn't see the show. was there much diff between them. i say if you can afford to then use the premo. i don't have a choice.

Well i guess ill be the lone soldier and say Mobile 8000.
I have used optimax and is good for long trips but as far as response i prefer the Mobile. I have been told that even these 98RON (claimed) fuels actually are about 96 or there abouts by the time the consumer puts it in there car. On the weekend i added some of the _ Octane boost to my 8000 and saw a 5rwkw increase on the dyno instantly! I was told that with the boost in my fuel this would increase my octane rating to about 102RON. But at $20 a bottle something like this would be only really be suitable to run in your cars if heading to the 1/4 mile rather than on a weekly basis. EDIT: This is not a sales pitch....... just sharing my thoughts. Last edited by DEVEL on Thu Jun 23, 2005 7:47 am, edited 2 times in total. |
