I use caltex vortex (premium) cause i find that the car idles better, but the only other one i will use is BP Ultimate 98. Either one of those two do the trick nicely for me. Plus if you love your falcon as much as i do, you would only want the best fuel for it. It works out like 3 dollars extra a tank, Big deal. I will bet you will still be able to pay rent if you use premium fuel.

The V8 will be running LPG VERY soon, also on stupidly high compression Good for turbocharging too ... hee hee. From memory the RON for LPG is 102 I think. I should have gone LPG years ago ... it is so much cheaper ... and I find I still get good range out of a tank as well ... cleaner emmisions too (dedicated gas models)

Well having the V8 there's no knock sensor (other than my ears) and using regular Shell she runs no probs, but if I fill up with Safeway Reg then the car will ping a little in high gears under load just before kicking back.

The EFs should do about 12.5L/100km with city driving and about 7.4L/100km highway when they're stock.

Highly OT, but what should you be looking at if you think your fuel consumption is higher than it should be?

They got 3 Toyota Camrys exactly the same age etc ran 1 with 91RON 2nd one with 95RON and 3rd with 98RON and drove them all over Gosford and the old Pacific Highway on about a tank of fuel and waited to see which one would last the longest. Winner was 1st 95 RON 2nd 98RON last 91RON anyone else notice thsi was not, as they claimed, a "scientific test"? one, they used different cars, which pretty much voids the experiment, 2, they used DIFFERENT DRIVERS, along witha whole range of other f**k. aca and all those current affairs programs eat d**k... and ray, youre EVIL! BURN IN HELL... back to the topic, mobil 8000 i find is best, followed by optimax, and last vortex. never tried ultimate... bp is only good to buy captain black cherry cigars on the highway! mobil 8000 vs mobil reg on highway makes close to 150-180km difference (700ish compared to almost 900), and city 30-40

Urgh!! 9.3L/100 on the highway (edit: only done a few runs where i worked out econ and that was best) 14L/100 when i am at uni, some slow stuff, stop starts and some 80 zone 15.5 - 16 around town I run Mobil premo, because i work there and get staff discount!! Tried a few tanks one after the other of BP ultimate (is the only 98 octane in Cairns) and it didnt do anything for me at all, same kays, same idle, same performance |
