There is a great article that was in Street Machine which had the following to say:

After trying all sorts of spark plugs (all of which caused detonation), (AN AFTERMARKET COMPANY) finally settled on a particular Autolite plug. Originally these plugs were shipped to them by mistake and, as it happened, they worked! Screwing them in saw an instant 4kW gain. According to (A PERSON THAT WORKS FOR THIS COMPANY), "using the right plugs is like adding a couple of extra degrees of timing without actually doing it."

Low-impedance leads are also important, with (AN AFTERMARKET COMPANY) exclusively using a Champion version.

we all know about the JMM plugs, they are a cheap $3 autolite plug you can get from MTQ the part number is 985, i have used them and to be honest they caused detonation. went back to stock plugs and all is fine now

Great. That's handy to know for anyone wanting to get them at a good price. Thanks mate.

So you would recommend going back to the standard XR6 plug? They obviously gave you a better result?

I just fitted a set of 6 "Bosch Super 4" to my 3.9. What are people opinions on these?

i found no power difference at all. just that the autolite plugs caused detonation and the stock XR6 plugs didn't. may be a different story in someone els' engine
