changing spark plugs and leads, just wondering:

normal spark plugs are $4 each which is easy on the wallet. Iridium ones are $20 each. Is it really worth the difference? Brand is NGK.

and which leads to get?

I've been running TopGun 10mm leads for a few years now had no dramas despite the LPG and boost.

I used to run Iridiums, run them in my motorbikes, never had an issue with them, they cost more, but last longer, much of a muchness. Some taxi mechanics I know swear by them (they use the genuine Fraud BA ones though).

Its like the do i buy a k&n filter or do i keep replacing the standard one. One is more expensive to purchase up front but once purchased its done. The iridium plugs they use in au falcon 6cyls for instance.... ford say to replace them every 150000kms. Now that means if you bought the car brand new and did 140000kms in it before you sold it you would not have even put plugs in it. I think if you have a sweet running engine the iridiums are worth it. But if you have an oil burning gunka or are planning to sell it just use the cheapies.

i put iridiums in after using the normal bosch ones. i reckon they are worth it, seem to accelerate better, + seemed to help with economy on long trips

I woulda thought 150000 is way too much even for iridums

Thank you for your enquiry, is your BA Falcon a 6 cylinder non turbo? If so the BRISK spark plug to suit your BA is part number DR17YPP. This is a long life 100,000Km spark plug with a Platinum centre electrode and Yttrium ground electrode. I have these fitted in my own BA XR6.
