Stick with the factory spec. Running engines at cooler temps than they are designed for is bad.
If you're overheating then changing the thermostat rating will not help - it will continue to overheat.

Drugs are Bad Marty, designed drugs are Badder.
I run a 79 or 77 degree C thermostat and it is fine. Dont let other people s**t you about "the engine is in warmup mode", once your over 75 degrees C you are okay.

a engine running cooler will increase fule consumption and lose of power. as ur heat co-eficency will be lower as u will loose more heat from every combustion fire to the cooling system thats why newer cars run much hotter eg , the new bme m5 runs at 125 degs c. from factory. run what the car is desinged for.

Run a the Au Thermost OEM and make sure you drill a 3mm hole in the side.
Some thermostats have the hole with a small ball valve.Lose the ball valve! This helps keep the temp constant and stop the temp gauge fluctuating. Cheers Dazza |

the little ball valve stops the hole from blocking up as the coolant rushes past it move with free anything that blocks it. according to the radiator cooling places fords are best at 90/c. cos s**t like ya oil may not get to its proper viscosity at say 77/c. ya may do engine damage so ya just better of running what the factory spec were with cooling.
if ya got a good enough cooliong sysytem ya temp chouldnt fluctuate. my thermostat is a 92/c and sits around 89 to 96 thats even driving around on the 47/c day we had here a few days ago!! well unless it hold it through the gears then it hits 100 but quicky cools back down |
