Hey. I was thinking of putting a whole new system into my ef falcon extractors right through it needs it the stock system is starting to rust through, i was just wondering how much should i be looking at paying for all of this and maby installing?? Also would there be a noticable differance in power/fuel economy if i added some good extractors and muffler etc.

hey man if ya do a search on "exhausts" this has been covered a fair few times.

basiicall a full exhaust ( extractors and mufflers with 2.5" mandrel bent pipe" ) will see a increase in power and a small increase in fuel econ depending on how u drive
as for cost ring arounda few shops as pricees can very big time
pacemakers are the way to go for extractors

Also, Mandrel bent is just a fancy word we all like to use and toss around. Getting a mandrel bent system is not necessary for street cars. You may be able so save some money there.

tho in tight spots and tght bends, mandrel bending is better cos with conventional bends, the tube will be squashed, deverely restricting the internal diameter

i have just ordered my cat back exhaust, im getting one of the pre made lukey sports ones(there is a post a few threads down where you can find a link) WITH mandrel bends (apparently) its only $190 bucks through sprints and the blke said its all bolts so i can fit it my self (i dont own a welder). funny story about it, when i rang a few zorst joints about it they said they could order this one and fit it for 300 bucks, then when i asked how much to fit it if i supply it they said $50 bucks. so by buying it for 190, then paying them 50 to fit it, i still save $40. stupid rip off merchants.

Also just on the topic on mandrel bent exhaust etc, i found out the "press bent" systems go from 2.5' right down to under 2' in the bends.

You think your paying for a full 2.5' sports exhaust system but your not!!! :x Where as a mandrel bent system is the same diameter throughout the entire pipe. :)

Worth the extra $$$ IMO.

I just got a 2.5" cat back ... press-bent system done for $250 including muffler and tip on the XG ute .... the bends aren't too bad and it doesn't really dropp much in diameter at all.

Nice and loud (might get a bit too much attention from cops now) ... awesome back-off burble too.

Power is increased ... low-down torque has dropped a bit .. mid-range is great ... fuel-economy is negligable ... still getting used to the car cos I bought it recently ... so still gauging what fuel economy I should be getting.

I would recommend costs
Extractors$350-500
Hi flow cat $250
Straight thru Resonator
You dont have to have a resonator but
it may be very loud depends what you want. $50
Sports system
cat back including 2.5" pipe and straigh thru muffler $240-$300

Total cost $740 - 1100
more if you want stainless steel

Heres my tip, I actually rang around a lot of places down here in Melbourne abut getting a lukey sports system, when I mentioned the 2.5 inch system everyone basically said get a redback system, they cost the same and they are a true mandrel bend, although when I contacted a guy about them who works for lukey he said they are a mandrel system......the question is who is lying???

I would stick with Redback I have a 2.5 inch system (mandrel) and also I have only the Centre sports muffler, no resonator no rear muffler, and the sound it has is really amazing, so I think I will be sitting the extracors on the shelf for a while becasue at the moment I just dont need them nad mine was in total $300 installed, havnt got a Hiflow cat basically because I think mine works fine at the moment.

Then Dad has a novel idea of trying to convince me to put in some copper piping because he had it on his torana 20 years ago, he said it was the only true way to get the nastiest crackle....................Thanks Dad........you D##khead :D

Does the reback come with one or two mufflers?
This is the same exhaust JMM use isnt it? And its the same one with some quality issues yup?
None the less a mandrel bend system is important to me.

Most Lukey systems ARE press bent. Mandrel bent is way better and worth the extra $$$, either Go redback if you want a fairly cheap setup or go completely custom if you want an even better setup, but it will cost lots more thou. :?

When I asked or mine I said "Im after a quote on a lukey system without the reasonater and rear muffler" and then they said "Go Redback much better quality and must better pipes"

I would figure the more mufflers you have on the more in price, but do you want the note of the engine revving or do you just want Mandrel bends, remembering the more air that is running through the mufflers the more pressure you are putting on your pipes, thus meaning less power because that air isnt escaping as fast

Fun that ... I just got a Redback system taken off cos it had rusted through ... I have now gone a Lukey system ... with single centre muffler (smaller one) ... and the rest is just 2.5" pipe-work ... damn it's loud ... and has pretty deep/loud crackle too it as well ... and nice rumble at cruising revs too.
