That might be how the auto ECU side of it is set up.

i got a diff tourq converter put on when i change engines cause the mech couldnt get the other one off my old 3.9. there seems to be a slight hesitation changing 1st to 2nd ie the change takes a bit longer.

SlickNCGhia, check throttle cable isn't stretched, get someone to go in the engine bay, you hold it flat stick, and see if they can move it more.

To others, non stock ratio diffs, combined with you putting in the correct speedo sender gear, will f**k your shifts unless you put in an ECU from a car that had your new diff ratio.
Or if you feed the ECU a corrected signal, ie Jaycar Speedo Corrector.
The autos shift of speedo sender signal (simple example - at WOT shift at 79km/h).
Or alternatively your trans is just slipping like a b**ch, get it serviced and hope it aint dead.

steadyED what about just putting in the relevant speedo gear ? seems much easier. and slick, yeah check for full throttle and that the tps works properly.

You either have a speedo thats out, and an auto that shifts right, or a speedo thats right, and an auto that bounces off the limiter before it shifts to 2nd at WOT.
If you want to do it without an ECU for your revised diff ratio, you need a way to modify the speedo signal.

my ED will change just at redline only when it's in power mode, in economy, it shifts quite a bit before that.

in the ford 6, there's no point in letting it go all the way out til redline at 5, since maximum power is made at 4500rpm, any time spent reaching after that is completely wasted, ideally, you should be shifting at 4500, but you can really only get that in a manual so yeah.
