Tyres.. your mums car might just have s**t tyres which spin easier.. I think your wheels are 16" too whereas EL's only got 15's.

- Both engines put out a stock 157kw (from memory)
- The AU is dual fuel tuned, as mentioned by More Grunt, thus not optimum
- The AU is a heavier car I'd say

When we had the duel fuel EF. the single spinner would smoke the tyres effortlessly compared to the au ute, which came with LSD. was lsd option on all AU's or standard?

well the au is lighter than most people think, it was lighter than the EL.

One thing with the AU is it tends to bog down off the mark when you floor it. their major problem is between idle and 3000rpm. soon fixed that with off the shelf high torque crow cam. nothing spectacular but it address the hesitant on sudden take off. put it this way, it was quick off the mark  even with that C*** of a first gear ratio!

not all new tyres are created equal though - so although both are new they might have different tread patterns or rubber compounds. Also EL's are lighter than AU's which helps.

Well just to throw a spanner in the works

My EL with a tickford motor, stg 1 rpd cam, Pacies, 2.5 zorst and shift kit auto = 15.6
My EL with an AU ser2 motor Pacies zorst & shift kit no cam = 15.4

Same car just had the motor changed.

And the au motor revs so much nicer than the el used to.

I dunno about yours...

But my AU hammers :)

Even Joe @ Crescent said he was very impressed with the balls it has! Especially for basic mods (Pacie's + Exhaust).

Made me feel good when he said that

AU > E-Series

:D
