Mum has a falcon GLi EL 1997
I have falcon AU (series 1) 1999, with LPG that can be turned off. Her car seems to have more grunt than mine!?! like i can spin the wheels on the start line in her car but not mine. when i go around the corner with her car i can hear (and feel) the wheel spin with out any effort on the gas or intentions from me... but mine cant? why is this? that her car seems to have more power (higher revs?) And now for the good part... how can i make my car better with out busting the bank?

what engine mods you have allready??
mods that wont break the bank are.... pace maker comps.. -or any decent extractors... 2.5 inch cat back sport s exhaust.. tickford snorkel.. 3 inch mandrel bend intake.. (HHMMM LPG though so???) LPG friendly aftermarket camshaft.. |

I dont know, but every AU and EL I have driven has felt sluggish compared to the EBs and EFs..

(100,000kms Cam, Chip, Exhaust and suspension)

that may be the case. i think the best way to find out is to put em up against each other on the track or something.

My Mum used to have an EF Wagon and that pulled much harder than my GLF`s Mums AU11 Forte Sedan. It used to punish it strait away on takeoff easily. AU had 160000kms EF 190000. It even pulls harder and accelerates a lot faster than the tickford powerd EL ghia she now has. It had me scratching my head especially as we had it for 9 years and it never even blew a head gasket, and hammered.

yea!?! so what the hell is it with these older falcons (EF, EB, EL) that makes em so much stronger over the AUs? can the AU ECU have something to do with it?

Could be different Diff ratios as well.. you should get under the back of the cars and check out the ratios.

put your au in power mode. economy mode in the au's suck a**, you could write a novel between shifts. even if you car wasnt running lpg at the time of your comparison, your engine still will not be tuned to run 100% on petrol. the tune is in a state between the two, and is not ideal for either.
your AU might have copped a thrashing or have a problem with it from before you got it. maintenance? clean filter, good spark plugs and new leads will make a huge difference if the ones you have are worn and dirty. both are base model falcs, so they will both be 3.08 open center diffs. each car is different, depends on the life it has lived, not neccesarily the k's.

that all sounds pretty good. i did think of new plugs tho, but haven't done anything about em. i'll have to look in to new spark plugs and new leads then.
