Hi.

Re the knock sensor, it only will cut in at high RPM and Max throttle and slightly adjusts the ignition if needed.

I am running an EL engine in my EB with an EL ECU and I don't have the Knock Sensor currently connected. The engine runs fine, and have not noticed any difference to when it was plugged in.

for f**k sake rowan. you asked this same question on PES and got told blatantly and obviously.
you legally CAN NOT DO THIS. the emissions laws will not allow it. dont run off to other forums to try and get a different answer.
and its a f**k stupid idea anyway. the EF you got is a pig and has no motor or gearbox or anything. your EB is a REALLY NICE CAR. stop trying to ruin it.

DO NOT DO IT

aslong as you use the ef manifold, timing case cover and ascessories it will work fine..
other than these things the engine block is the same except for no knock sensor....

and its not illegal aslong as the the ecu, manifold and imissions from the ef are kept..
once everything from the ef engine is on the eb engine no one would be able to tell the difference..
except for ford and e series guys like us...

a complete engine yes its technically illegal to put the eb engine with the eb ecu log manifold ect into an ef..
but if its fitted with the ecu and manifold from the ef i would say no its not illegal..

honestly the block is the same the displacement is the same the cams are the same.
and if the eb engine is fitted out to look and perform as the ef..
immisions wise it would be the same..
the only way that anyone would be able to tell is if they went to ford and gave them the eb engine number and they would tell you what car the engine came from...

well fair enough that may be true.
but. the matter at hand really is that rowan here has an immaculate and awesome looking EB. and he's just aquired a bunky unlicenced ef with no motor or box. and wants to strip down his eb to run the ef.

were trying to help him by advising against wrecking his EB. if he wants to build the EF, fine whatever, buy a second hand motor and box and go from there.

Good point, who in their right mind would think that an EF is an 'upgrade' from an EB?

Boxcars look soooo much better. Strip the interior out of the EF and put it in the EB :D :D :D

Then, like me, you can have the best of both worlds.

I feel the urge to create a bloody rubiks cube on wheels graphic again... Comon guys, there is NOTHING at all wrong with the front of an EF in Fairmont, (or Fairlane or LTD modes). The GLI's and Futura's are pretty plain jane, but give me a break. You really think the front of your 80's model cars look any better than an EF? Pass my pills...

Im with ya Fiend

Nothing wrong with an EF Fairmont at all

But BenJ has a very good point there, if you have the opportunity, why not retrofit the EF interior into the EB? Seems like the EB is all ok and running? Then save up and chuck an AU VCT into the EF
