Hi, im looking to see if anyone knows that this pod filter will fit in an ef air box. Its a k&n and the model is RR-3003.
Its pretty much the same size as this model RU-4730 (where some people already used), but its i think larger in diamter and shorter length. If anyone has tried using that model k&n or have some other expirence etc this would be appreciated. Because i dont want to buy it and then find out that it doesn't fit in the air box, yes i can then try having no box. But i want to place it in the box to keep it stock looking. Also p-platers and visible pod filters.. i heard theres a problem with the cops somewhere along those lines. http://www.knfilters.com/search/product ... od=RR-3003 http://www.knfilters.com/search/product ... od=RU-4730 http://www.fordmods.com/phpBB2/viewtopi ... pod+filter |

Just measure up the inside of your air box or e-mail K&N...
Also, if it were me, I'd be looking at a no name brand one. K&N are pretty expensive. You can get pods exactly the same for half the price... Just depends on wether or not you can hack having a "chickenfeed" pod??? |

Also hard to measure.. cos realistic i have the belmouth and i want to put the pod inside the air box on the belmouth.. but it is close to the top of the lid.. so cant really measure.. so asking if anyone has done this model etc.
also downingj what brands do u think that are great and the prices are great? |

also downingj what brands do u think that are great and the prices are great? At the very best, you're going to get a 1-2 rear wheel killowatt gain. 3 if you're lucky. Not really worth $100+ IMO. This should be achievable with any pod, as deisgn and material use is similar between all brands. Either way, let us know how it goes and if you can detect a noticeable gain in performance and driveability. |

there expensive because there good. the flow reate between a K&N or other like decent brand is huge against the $20 - $30 pods. As for what will fit, depends how you plan to set it up in the box, what angle etc. E-mailing K&N to ask what pod will fit will do jack s**t, as they don't do specific pods, there all universal and the air filter box is not set upto take a pod and will require some DIY work. |

Gday pauly_pizza, Yeah fitted a K&N RX-4730 in the air box a while ago. Not much clearance any where diameter or length but it fitted. Check the sizes between the two filters on the K&N web site, should give you a bit more of an idea. Got a pic in my gallery.

i think it will get better economy......and some more throttle response.. everything else.. anyways i got a cheap paper filter meaning any pod or reusable high flow filter will make my car better.

If you wanted opinions that conformed with your way of thinking and your opinions, then you should have stated that mate. There are plenty of people that don't go much on the whole pad/panel set-up and for good reason. I'm one of them. Personally, I think they are a waste of money for the very little benefit you get from them. But hey, it's your choice man and that's your right, fair enough. I was just trying make you see the other side of the arguement, and you did ask if anyone else has had experience with these set-ups... Either way, I'll be looking forward to seeing if you detect a noticeable difference with this set-up. Genuinely. Most people don't and I've been in a number of cars that have had a panel / pod set-up fitted and there isn't a detectable difference. s**t, I've got a pod set-up in my air box and the bastard doesn't even give you that induction sound that you get out of the Commies and yes, it's a K&N jobbie (you can only hear it if you really listen). Cars include everything from a VP Commie, EF Falcon (two of them, in fact), XR6 T, VX Commie, VN Commie... |
