Cheers im thinking pretty much on the same lines. water comes in, once wiper motor activates theirs a transfer of electricity from motor to somewhere. it would also explain why the light only comes on dimly (water will be like resister compared to normal wire) spray some silicon spray around the motor this should get rid of most/all of the water their

Sounds like a electrical fault, possibly a stray earth. That's why the light, which isn't related to the wiper in any way doesn't light up properly.
Have you tried running the wipers when it isn't raining? This will eliminate whether it is water getting in to some wiring somewhere or a fault with the wiper motor or other components. I suggest you don't run your wipers on a dry screen, you could run them lifted up while stationary and under cover.

I have seen mine glow dim on a trip at night and illuminating in synchronism with the wiper (Intermittent mode), had it not been night I would not have seen it. It did concern me until I realised it was wiper related. I have not seen it since.

check for a loose earth from the wiper motor.

Hi
I just had a look at this problem on my wifes' car. The brake light was staying on and the wipers and radio would not work. When I turned the ignition off, the wipers came on momentarily. Solution: The ignition switch has a return spring or leaf spring which pushes the switch back from the "Start" position to the "Run" position. This is broken and the ignition switch stays in the "Start" position. Just turn the ignition switch back a bit until the brake light goes off("Run" position). Hope this helps someone:) |
