Hi reving is often an intake manifold leak... you can test of for that, but it's much easier to do once you have the motor running.

look under the dash.... when I was working at strathfield car radio years and years ago.. we had a ford with the same symptoms as yours... turns out that while the guy was fitting the alarm, he inadvertently pulled the plug on one of the connectors under the dash...
Is it possible the same has happened to you while changing the clutch cable? It took me ages to find it back then.. was right up under... |

change you fuel filter & have a spare coil, dissy cap & rotor on stand by. always handy having consumable parts around in case.
replace all the obvious parts, it'll narrow the search down a bit.

In this case, it was slightly above the handbrake.. there was a big loom up there and I could only just get to it.

get it fixed yet? i've got the same problem after installing thermo fans, know its not those cause it was rubbing fine for a few days, was told it was the coil, so i've replaced that still the same. pretty sure not fuel related with mine either cause i'm dual fuel and happens on both.
any more ideas anyone? |

i had a similar prob best to start cheap to the not so cheap clean your battery
up may have corrosion on it then if not take your battery to supercheap for a free test. then try new leads plugs coil if not may be your starter motor/altonator could be many things? if it's a manual try to pushstart it or get some one to jumpstart you if its an auto that would make me lean towards the starter moter/altonator scenario hope i could be some help to you

no worries had replaced the coil checked leads and spark plugs was all good, would fire over if tipped fuel down the intake but wouldn't run by itself, thought it must be something to do with the gas petrol switch wiring, after a few hours of stuffing round found a fuse in a really stupid place and it was corroded so only an intermittent connection. replaced the fuse and all good now, thanks for your help anyway
