i have been asked to build a 3.2l to go hard it has to keep the original stroke and bore sizes as it will be running in the 3 litre class (speedway), anyone here had anything to do with the 3.2l or know how to get one of these thing humming?

3.2l as in an EA 3.2l CFI motor ?

Well, First thing that comes to mind is a multi point conversion, then if the class permits, strengthen the engine and turbo it.

yep a EA 3.2l the bottom end is to remain stock, thats about as far as restriction goes internally, i will look at the regs book and see exactly what can be modified. it will be running a holloy and has to be N/A so a turbo is out

How did you get your hands on a 3.2? they are rare as hens teeth. Does it look different to the 3.9 externally? Sorry to hijack thread .
I would hook up EL BBM, or maybe find a 6 throttle body plenum- as this would probably be more useful with the short stroke motor. I wish Ford still had this engine as a delete option on XT, so an economical alternative was there and it would have a broader audience. Some photos would be great when your done? |

well the reason they dont make it was they weren't that economical. Due to their low power output, they had to be revved alot harder to get the car going. Get a better cam made up. do u mean a holly carb cause the 3.2's are fuel injected. Maybe a 6 throttle body setup with no air filters under a shaker may give an advantage if it must remain N/A.

well any engine responds the same as any other engine
ie free flowin exhaust, intake, cam etc will all help it make grunt the trick with say a cam and head work is being such a rare motor is what will work and what wont! also can u replace the bottom end with stronger parts?

The way to look at it is that anything that is 'mild' on a 4.0 is big on a 3.2, and anything that is big on a 4.0 is huge on a 3.2.
I think a late e-series tickford head with a wade 997 or 1521a is a good start. Get the compression up as high as you can. Going the Holley is a good choice but your manifold options are limited. Easy way would be the cfi with an adaptor. You could try an aftermarket 250 xflow manifold with a 4.0 flange welded on, or you could weld up a custom intake. I saw a very simple but nice homemade twin carby manifold that made huge power on a 4.0.

well i was thinking maybe running the ed tickford head i have here with a wade 997, performance springs and retainers cleaning up the ports running a 350 holley not sure on the inlet manifold i hate the cfi manifold just looking at them you can see that have restricted flow, and a graphed modified ex dissy, sound ok ?

i read your other post mate and probly the engine i am building will be s**t down low especially injected which dont bother me cos its for speedway and really only needs to run good mid to top end, you are probly better off getting a 4.0l add a wade 1636 cam or simalar a extractors and a 2.5" exust and then if you ea is cfi change it to a bbm.

is this a serious thread or what i asked a similar question about the 3.2 falcons few posts back some one said the 3.9 heads are the same or fit in the EA book i got all it says is the bore size etc etc nothing about structual changes so why not but a 3.9 head or 4.0 on it make it MPFI and stick a turbo on it a small would do and to do that the cheapest way would to get a turbo unit of a TF rodeo and get a custom exhaust manifold on it and bolt the rodeo unit on the flange and run some piping there is a s**t load of turbo falcons on this site so copy there ideas give or take and i am sure it would make a good power for being what it is
say 650 for a turbo unit from a rodeo about 150 for a good manifold about 100 dollars to run exhaust piping from rear of turbo and about 100 to run a decent intercooler piping 250>300 (or cheaper if gget a ebay cooler) for intercooler and 400 for a decent head..... these are a rough guide i have never done it or going to do just a basic rough idea.

use a custom manifold to suit the Holley and a set extractors which your going to any way and just do a tidy up on the head even still get the head machined abit more to get comp up and if it fits use a X series electronic dizzy . unless this motor is fitted to the EA stock-car then just keep orignal dizzy with the Ecu depending on class restrictions

its about time they decided to use the 3.2 from the ea.
rules are basicly same as production sedan as far as i know s standerd inlet manifold allowed a 350holley or stock carby standerd stroke 60 up bore. the cpi manifold i beleave is much better then the stock xf 4.1 at least the runners are fairly equal in length and also much larger you could get away with out cutting it open and porting till its papper thin. you also may be able to use 250 xflow pistons if it dont overbore it to much which will take it to 3.3L the standerd ports on any ohc engine are hugh as well so should only need a clean up. other then that dont use the 2:1 rockers they have a bad habbit of braking id start comp at a safe 10:1 and go from there. the xe electronic dizzy works as well with a few mods but its basicly turn the gear upside down.
