Cheers, The poor EL really cops it at the drags, but thats probably why i'm usually always in the semi finals at least.. *looks at runner up certificate* Here is a movie of the poor EL with a single spinner diff, lighting up both rear tyres with a std diff ratio of 3.25. (3.45 would spin easier) http://www.red-line.tk/movies/ac-dual.mpg (2.2mb)

Yeah my EB2 Ghia with 3.27? LSD won't spin off the line, do a U turn and no worries, or drop from 2nd back to 1st on a corner. No probs in the wet but thats scary, I have 235 rubber. So I'd say no to an auto with the 3.45. If ya have a LSD at least it will save your tyres

tyres power and gearing.
My el when stock and running 205's, if provoked off the line (stall to 1500) would leave twin black marks (Open 3.23 centre). Now with 235/17's it needs a 2000rpm stall to leave marks from stand still. In any case if the ground is wet, then its tail happy for as long as you have your foot down. At no stage did it ever have problems laying 2nd gear patches if provoked on private pavements.

falcongli6 wrote: hey bowsaw so u can't spin it in a stand still or u mean i dosn't rev out in a stan still and wat about if u flaw it into a courner does it spin then Well, like any half decent car, it can spin around corners, u turns etc, but not from standstill, not with 245s on it. Maybe if i put 175s it might.

My car spins in reverse easier than Drive, off the line that is.

my car lights the tyre (occasionaly tyres) up with ease from a standstill, stalled up or round a corner, they were 255's. i have 205 stockers on the back now, and my god they are fun. i usually stall my car to 2000rpm in a race and let if off with no wheelspin at all, with the stockers the car just sits on the spot and smokes with no brakes at all.

i had a hard michelin 255 tyre, and it would smoke second gear in the dry.
I have cheapy sava intensa 235 tyres under it now, and it won't chirp second (not bad for cheap tyre i reckon). My car is manual btw.

I have Sava 235's on mine at the moment, I'm rather impressed with the tyres. With my old 205's I would spin not just chirp after grabing 2nd gear hard. Now it wont even chirp! :/ When I'm racing i'm grabing gears really hard and dropping the clutch, not that it grips I think it's putting heaps of load on my diff, box, clutch

yeah it puts alot of pressure on the diff, to the extent that mine is on its way out.

I used to have really bad traction problems with my EA's... both had 3.23 LSD in them. In the wet, I would turn a wide corner at 30 kms, and the back end would slip out... and I'd s**t myself.
I ended up doing an 180 one night, sideways up a gutter and planted my Ghia into someones fence, broke the steering arm, and pushed the chassis up in the middle. The tyres were not bald, and they had heaps of tread depth... police said they were hard compound. After that incident I decided when I bought my next EA fairmont that I got some Bridgestone Potenzas 60/225 fitted... $680. I now find it EXTREMELY difficult to spin the back out at all... I can only get them to smoke up in a full lock turn and booting it... To this day, I still believe those tyres were the best investment I made in my EA.
