its been done many times before, but generally try to flatten out the curves a bit more, than than the harsh corners that your picture has.

was told it didn't make any difference as long as the pipe is a constant 3 inch within reason. thats why the tickford pipe on early EF's was discontinued.

No such thing.

And yep, these intake pipes do bugger all for performance.

Think it would make a fairly decent difference mate considering with 90deg bends it makes the air bounce off the corner whereas with nice curvy bends the air flows rather than bounces thru the pipe = better airflow.

he didnt mean the 90 degree turn didnt mean much for performance, he meant the whole intake pipe didnt do much.

This intake pipe (green), was dyno tested with my stock EL intake (blue), and the gains had were visible and consistent across the chart:

Both runs were back to back (only the time taken to change pipes was taken).

the elbow would still be restricting in your case.
i remember seeing air flow figures, and the elbow was the biggest problem on the el intake !!

however, i have yet to see proof either way

Don't know about the elbow, it's smooth inside and doesn't get any smaller than 3" inside - in fact it gets bigger.

yeah the picure is just like a rough idea. cause seen many different intake styles ffrom different kinds of cars

yeah the corners/curves wouldn't be that drastic

It certainly looks a lot better :)

I couldn't really notice a difference when i put my 3" mandrel-bend intake on. but hey, it removes the intake as a possible limitation.

I don't know if the answer is obvious....

But what's the advantage of having the intake wrap around? For instance, hypothetically, if the throttle body was to face the other way around and had a pipe direct to it - wouldn't that be better for air flow?

i you spun the top of the inlet manifold over? this would stop the dual stage inlet from working would it not?
