I was coming out of a round about and as i eased on the throttle the car just reved (it is auto) and i had no accelaration so i rolled to a stop pulled over turned the car off and back on again but the car wouldnt start the starer motor was goin but it was not cracking the engine over. What is wrong? Any help would be great asap.

can u hear ur fuel pump turning on and pumping as u put the ignition on? if it does then u might want to check ur spark plugs, leads and dizzy. if thats not it u might want to check some fuses that might have blown or something. check the battery terminal to see if there is any corrosion on the connections. thats all i can think of at the moment. good luck

Very strange. Sounds like 2 problems there at least. If the starter is just spinning, its almost definately a starter motor problem.
If you can hear the starter click, then spin, the solenoid is working (since its just a big relay for the motor), but if the engine is not turning, maybe you have a tooth missing off the flywheel, or the throw out arm for the pinion is broken. Doesn't explain the thing seemingly going into neutral though. Unless you coincidentally just lost 4 of 4 torque converter bolts.

the fuel pump does come on but it is like the starter motor is not crackin the engine, wtf, and why all of a sudden would it not grab a gear?

so the engine wasn't turning over, but you could hear the starter motoring.... definatly a starter issue there. don't know what the other problem might be other then a slipping clutch?

possible. did your car idle when you pulled over to the side of the road? pull the rocker cover off and have a look if you suspect it

if you say that the car just revved no drive and the starter motor turns but the engine doesnt crank ..
if the torque converter bolts to a flex type plate to join it to the crank maybe the converter bolts have come out??? wich means when you try to start it it only turns the ring gear/converter and doesnt turn the engine!! and before you turned it off,the engine was revving but the converter wasnt thats why it lost drive .. i hope this makes sense but im not a 100% on how the torque converter joins the crank on the fords. if its similar to the chrysler set up this is what may have happend.. A snapped timing chain will most likely make your engine go bang and suddenly stop. All that chain has to go somewhere - usually gets wedged in anything else that moves.

I had a spinning starter motor once in the EB actually - looked under the car and it was dancing around on the ground One bolt had snapped, the other came loose!
Have you looked under the car yet?
