i am currently installing a BF XR6Turbo engine into my XF and i have been told that i will have to spend 8grand on just WIRING another 8on ECU and 3 on gear box. can anyone toll me what sort of stand alone ECU i will need to be able to run only the engine and engine components without the the boost limiter and other useless limiters and stuff and where i can get it installed in bris northside preferably and what sort of driveline i should be running including exhaust system and turbo relocation, brakes , diff and gearbox ... etc
i have already run over budget with this install so any good lasting reputations with a great price even RECO or USED parts recomended would be great PLEASE HELP!?!?!?!?!?

You can source a T56 for around the $3.5-4k mark.

Do you want the DVCT or not? if not a Haltech E6X/E11V2 would work, they are around the $1500-2k mark, both ECU's have in gear boost limiting that you can use, but dont have to.

How much power are you after? if its fairly high, check out a 9" Conversion

For the wiring, run what you can yourself, and then pay to get the rest done, and for a good place for tuning from what i have heard, give BPS Chipteck a call (dont have there number sorry)

you may also want to look at Magesquirt ECU's that is if you have the time to build it yourself, do a search around there is plenty of info on them, otherwise either a haltech or an older motec should come in on budget for you. what sort of $$ you got to play wih? you said already over budget, how much have you sunk into this project?

thanks for your replies I do want to keep the DVCT cause at the moment they are set fairly low and with tuning it is useful. POWER wanting between 270 and 300 rwkw

as for my spendings so far lets just say that i didnt plan on needing a new engine and so i got the 250 worked and the mechanic tuning it cracked the block somehow so buying the engine as a "simple conversion for a straight fit and run " so i was told has sent me well over not to mention the wastage on the other engine

PLEASE KEEP THE RESPONSES TO THIS THRAD COMING AS I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET THANX ALL

For the 270-300rwkw figure, a BW 78 Series (EB2 -EL) would cope with that figure (PYROAY had 451rwkw through a BW78), im not sure of any aftermarket ECU's that can run the DVCT, maybe check a few websites like www.motec.com.au and www.haltech.com.au

From what i've been told, the DVCT on the BA motors is only used in factory setups to change cold start emissions, and to help heat the cat quicker for lower emissions.

However, thats just what i;ve been told

As far as i know only a MoTEc will control the DVCT on the Barra engines. Haltech do make an ECU to control DVCT, just not the Ford engines. I have contacted them directly and they told me straight, "the E11 will NOT work".

Consider using the factory BA ECU, this is what i am doing, although not many have attempted this i have been assured that you can get the ECU to work.

these are some pics i took this arvo i had to take the manifold off to bolt the mounts up properly and i shaved the left mount today to fit around the filter anyway as you can see in the pics the manifold wont line up now due to space . if you look at my pic posted yesterday i actually had my manifold bolted in upside down to try and lift the turbo to make some room but then the clearance issue arose with the turbo not fitting under even the extra space with the scoop . it is to tight a fit to be able to take the engine back a bit as you can see in my update of photo bucket
