My XG is being a real pain in the backside lately. Now it has developed a starting problem. The thing use to start immediately no matter how long it sat. I have been using it a lot lately and noticed that sometimes, i will turn the key and the engine will crank for about 5 seconds, sort of half start and then stall. After another three seconds of cranking it will fire up. It usually starts immediately like i said. Could this be a fuel pump issue? I have noticed it doesn't seem to have quite as much power as usual, and when you blip the throttle, it sounds okay but then the revs drop right back and it nearly stalls! I am thinking about an engine upgrade but until then, this current engine needs to work properly!

similar thing happened to my old ef falcon, turned out it was a dodgy fuel pressure reg, sounds kinda fuel related to me.

Has new fuel filter. Might get a new fuel pressure regulator, see if it makes any difference. Do all falcons usually start having issues with everything at 230000, or is mine just special lol. Thanks for the replies.

Does the XG have crank sensor and coilpack? - my EF was getting tardy and cranky at one stage about a year ago - cleaning all the built up gunge away from the crank angle sensor fixed it.

Yeah its dizzy. Has new dizzy cap and leads as well because i thought that could have been a problem, but it hasn't changed anything. Getting new fuel pressure regulator tomorrow or Wednesday. If that doesn't help then there's going to be a lot of swearing in my shed haha.
