I have spent awhile searching the site but none are really related to my issue.
So I have a xh it started running rough so put a new fuel filter in drove round then just died now it will only crank and not start so. I have put new plugs, leads, 02 sensor, temp sensor, map sensor, ignition coil, some fuses and serviced the injectors. Have tested every plug for spark. Checked every fuse It sounds like it wants to start but just doesn't will only crank thats it. I have no idea what to do thought it was the dizzy but mech said it wouldn't be as it has spark and it would be electrical any help would be amazing hasn't started in over a month now |

Double check all wire connectors on the dizzy & the coil, also make sure they're not worn on the outer & earthing out.
Make sure all spark plug leads are homed firmly on to their dizzy terminals, especially the centre one. Does yours have the electrical diode under/to the side of the dizzy ? If so this may need replacing, especially if they ever get wet. Forgive me as I'm not familiar with the XH, have owned a non EFI XF, AU & BA only. Definitely sounds like a timing issue though, with the backfiring etc. Maybe start over with the timing ? No:1 piston to top dead centre on compression stroke & then confirm dizzy cap & rotor are pointing the correct way... Sounds to me, based on your explanation of symptoms, that it may be an electrical component that was slowly dying & now has!! |

Thats exactly what a mechanic said but I don't know which part of the electrical system has died. Have never used an electrician before so don't know how much they will charge to look it over. It did crank better once I changed the map sensor and the fuses near the airbox

there's a 'part' that mounts to the side of the dizzy .... it 'maybe' faulty - but it's just a 'guess'. sorry canna think of what it's called.
