Hello guys, Just a quick question, What are the symptoms of oil pump aux gear failure other than the oil pressure been no existent on the gauge?
Thanks guys. |

I'd also guess you'd get an accompanying array of loud, scary and painful noises.
If there is a dizzy, then if the aux gear/shaft/teeth have failed, then the thing wouldnt start and you wouldnt see the rotor in dizzy turn. The oil pump is driven directly by the dizzy, not the aux shaft. |

Well the Dizzy spins and it starts but i shut it down immediately as there is no oil pressure showing on the gauge. So by what you are saying the oil pump will be pumping when the dizzy spinning? In that case i should be looking for other reasons for no oil pressure on the gauge?

have u tried pulling the dizzy out and making sure that the shaft between the dizzy and oil pump hasn't sheard. the dizzy can still spin but it doesn't mean the oil pump is being driven. when u pull the dizzy out check to see u can spin the shaft that drives the oil pump, even with a drill on low speed.( a way to prime the oil pump on replacement, engine overhaul ). p.s. don't forget to try another oil gauge.

Suppose it could be the shaft... Although you'd have to be unlucky. Never heard about one of those shafts sheering, but it could happen.
Could just be the sensor, they are pretty s**t. Wouldnt be the first time one has blocked or crapped itself. You'll need an 8mm socket with a few extensions to get down to the pump with a drill. And if you lift the rocker cover you'll be able to see the oil being pumped out of the rockers and around the cam if everything is well. |

Ok guys, I have pulled it down to discover nothing out of the ordinary the gears are still intact. Waiting for drill to charge to test the pump, But the oil pump seems to me a little too easy to rotate the pump by hand? Could just be me though?
